As If Productions (AIP) is the studio of writer, publisher, game designer & programmer Tod Foley, specializing in game design, web development and interactive systems.
Founded in 1991, AIP has developed immersive websites, virtual worlds, roleplaying games, CD-ROMs, viral marketing and live promotional events for clients including Comedy Central, 20th Century Fox Films, Sony/Epic Records, Times-Mirror Magazines, Walt Disney Records, Revelations Entertainment, Iron Crown Enterprises, The WELL and The Electronic Cafe International. No matter what type of interactive system you have in mind, we're here to bring it to life - from design and development to webhosting and support.
The word "Interactive" has been applied to virtually everything, from electronic toys to sophisticated works of tech-art. But what exactly is "Interactivity"? The computer has been described as "an interactive tool". But if I pick up a hammer and feel its weight in my hand, am I not interacting with the tool?
This morning, ignoring the slackers on the panhandle of this revolting cesspool of a city, stepping over the druggie bums while hurrying to digital servitude in order to pay off my future self for my present home entertainment system, I took a sip of my Starbuck's and felt some small, unexpected mass strike my tongue - a bug.
The World of South Park was a literal interpretation of the hit television series from Comedy Central. Designed and moderated by As If Productions, this unique chat site used The Palace software to take participants inside the wacky universe of Cartman, Kenny, Kyle and Stan, America's favorite foul-mouthed eight-year-olds.
Tod Foley is a game designer, consultant and technical director. He has authored many role playing games, including CyberSpace, the RPG. You may know him as the editor of PIX-elation, or as the panelist at the Electronic Cafe or numerous other industry conferences and live events. He is the founder of As If Productions. Get the picture? Wait. He's active in IICS, the International Interactive Communications Society, and he devised the incredibly innovative LARP (Live Action Role Play) - Ghosts In the Machine.

"There are no exact directions. There are probably no directions at all. The only things that I am able to recommend at this moment are a sense of humour; an ability to see the ridiculous and the absurd dimensions of things; an ability to laugh about others as well as about ourselves; a sense of irony and of everything that invites parody in this world."
